What Lies Beneath the Trigger

Have you ever had a reaction that seemed much bigger than the situation in front of you?

Someone says something. Something doesn’t go according to plan. You feel rejected, criticized, overlooked, or unsafe—and suddenly you are reacting before your rational mind has had a chance to catch up.

Sometimes, we are not responding only to what is happening now. We are responding through the imprint of what has happened before.

Many of us carry emotional wounds, unmet needs, prolonged stress, or difficult experiences from our past. These experiences can influence how we perceive situations, what triggers us, and how quickly our nervous system moves into protection mode.

This is one reason two people can experience the exact same situation very differently.

What barely affects one person may deeply activate another.

Trauma and significant stress can affect both mind and body and, for some people, contribute to hypervigilance, difficulty relaxing, sleep disturbances, heightened reactivity, and feeling continually “on guard.”

And sometimes we don’t even realize an old pattern is operating.

The question becomes:

Are we continuing to react from the pattern—or becoming conscious enough to interrupt it?

Harmonyum: Creating Space For Something New

One of the beautiful aspects of Harmonyum is that it does not require us to mentally analyze every experience in order to receive the practice.

Harmonyum facilitates deep relaxation, energetic balance, and support for the nervous system, creating an opportunity to step out of unconscious reactions, perceptions and behaviors that are not aligned with our highest good.

Harmonyum can be a powerful complement to the inner work of becoming conscious of the patterns we carry and choosing, little by little, not to perpetuate them.

Sometimes healing begins simply by creating enough inner stillness to respond differently.
