The Power of Service

Resumen
  • Giving is woven in the very laws of life
  • Giving is an expression of love
  • Giving is a divine impulse

Contrary to what you may think, you don’t become depleted by giving, you become stronger. Giving is woven into the very laws of life. Even your breath is a constant exchange of giving and receiving: when you exhale, you are giving something back. And the more fully you exhale, the more breath you can inhale again.

In the same way, you are most empowered when you give. Giving is an expression of love, because love naturally gives. Once you understand this principle, you begin to see a deeper truth: there is no success without generosity of spirit. Giving matters.

Giving is a divine impulse. It may feel personal, but you are the channel through which that impulse flows. Service is one of the most meaningful ways to express that flow. When you support, uplift, or care for another, your own life expands with purpose.

Practicing the art of giving does not mean you have to strip yourself down to nothing. Give with joy and ignore the ego that would challenge you not to give. True giving is done consciously, from the heart, and without fear.

Breath Meditation – Breath of Glow

As we said, breathing expresses the universal act of giving and receiving. When we work with Breath of Glow, the emphasis is on the exhalation, which corresponds to giving.

Position: Sit in Easy Pose or in a seated position with a straight spine. Rest the hands on your knees in Gyan Mudra (thumb and index finger tips touching).

The Breath: Beginning with the exhale, swiftly and forcefully push all the breath out, feeling the navel contract, allowing a minimal inhale to occur naturally. Continue this pattern of complete exhalation followed by automatic inhalation in a relaxed, rhythmic manner. Focus your attention on the exhale. Please note refrain from pumping during pregnancy and menstruation.

Time: 1-3 minutes

To End: Inhale deeply, hold the breath, place the hands on the chest. Pause then exhale. Stretch your arms up overhead and shake the hands and wrists vigorously and relax.
