Are You Living Your Life Or Your Upbringing?

Summary
  • in our formative years, our karmic burden is shaped by the individuals, who raise, teach and guide us
  • parenting along with education and societal conditioning becomes the framework of emotional habits, internal conflicts, and inherited belief systems in the individual
  • depending on the nature of these imprints, the individual either thrives in life or suffers

The Seventh Karmic Influence — our upbringing — is a powerful layer that forms the foundation of our emotional and spiritual life.

From the age of one to eleven, every experience, every word spoken to a child becomes permanently etched in their psyche. These formative years are when the child’s core karmic burden is shaped. The individuals who guide, raise, and teach us — whether parents, caregivers, or educators — contribute most deeply to our emotional karma.

Every word, tone, and belief expressed is recorded in the child’s conscious and subconscious mind. These impressions become the framework of emotional habits, internal conflicts, and inherited belief systems that echo throughout life.

The journey unfolds in phases:

  • Ages 1–3: The child belongs to the mother, the bond that nourishes life.
  • Ages 3–7: The child aligns with the father, who becomes the first teacher.
  • Ages 7–11: The child absorbs from the greater environment, family, school, and society.

By the time we reach age eleven, our essential character is already formed. If these three stages lacked guidance, love, or conscious support, it becomes necessary to seek a mentor or follow a strict spiritual path to realign our lives with harmony and purpose.

All too often, the frustrations, fears, guilt, and anger we experience as adults were seeded in these early years. The way our parents and teachers spoke to us, corrected us, or even unintentionally ignored us becomes the echo of our karma. These influences can either uplift us or bind us to cycles of suffering.

Many of our most persistent life challenges are rooted not just in parenting, but also in educational and societal conditioning. From religious dogma to inherited patterns of love, control, guilt, or shame much of what we believe and how we behave originates from this deeply impressionable period. Even our psychological neuroses and physical imbalances often find their source here.

The benefit of Harmonyum is that it helps us access, acknowledge, and release these karmic imprints returning us to the purity of our true nature.
